Biography: Joshua Winchester

Josh began his career in costuming at the age of fourteen as an apprentice crafts technician at Seaside Music Theater in Daytona Beach, Florida. He attended Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida where he designed costumes for productions of Antigone and Dark of the Moon as well as writing and composing Lucky Bunny, a children’s musical. Josh earned his MFA in Costume Design from the Florida State University School of Theater where he design costumes for their productions of Twelfth Night and James and the Giant Peach. Josh has designed costumes for the Bigfork Summer Playhouse (Annie), The Lexington Children’s Theater (The Adventures of Madeline) and Orlando Repertory Theater (42nd Street, Thoroughly Modern Millie). He was awarded a SETC Ready to Work grant, is the second place winner of the SETC Design Competition, a participant in the USITT Young Designer’s Forum and a recipient of the National Arts Merit Award.
